About

I started Free-GIS.com as a way to show people that the use of GPS, and GIS technology is not restricted to those that have huge budgets and unlimited resources.  Even if you only have a recreational GPS you can still create useful data and maps, that will communicate valuable information.  I have mapped everything from gopher holes to power lines, and it may seem nice to always use the latest and greatest that the GPS technology has but, in the end it is how we use the data that will dictate what kind of equipment we need to use.  So browse around and see if anything sparks an ideas of what you can use a map for, and if you have any questions or suggestions please email me.
